Understanding rhythm happens very gradually and the best way to begin is by reading and chanting nursery rhymes with your child from a very young age. Here are some simple activities you can do with rhymes and chants to develop your child's sense of rhythm.

The very early stages of learning to read music are laid down during Colourstrings Music Class. It's important not to begin this stage to early. Children are ready for this once they can keep a steady beat and copy a short rhythm phrase accurately.
